ZBX-288 SCSI and CLOCK / CALENDAR

Offering a full-featured, 12/24 hour clock and calendar with a 7 year
battery backup, the ZBX-288 represents an upgrade to users of the
ZBX-H280. All SCSI characteristics and specifications are identical
to the ZBX-H280, including the 50 pin header connector.

The ZBX-288 provides a complete Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) as defined by ANSI X3T9.2 on a single ZBX module. In DMA mode, transfers are supported up to 1.5 Mbytes per second. It provides an intelligent disk I/O channel, which allows for interchangability of peripheral devices such as floppy and hard disks, or streaming tape. Arbitration and reselection are supported. An interrupt is generated whenver it is selected or reselected. The ZBX-288 has been the choice of system integrators since 1984.

NCR 5380
The NCR supports arbitration, including reselection. The 5380 will generate an interrupt whenever it is selected or reselected. The open collector outputs of the 5380 are capable of driving the SCSI bus directly, thus eliminating the need for additional buffers.

The eight internal registers provide complete control of the SCSI bus including the direct reading/writing of any SCSI bus signal.

Minimal processor intervention is required for DMA transfer because the NCR 5380 controls all the necessary handshake signals. Normal and block mode DMA support insures compatibility with most DMA controllers, parity bits are always generated and may optionally be checked if desired.

SCSI Bus
The SCSI is a system level interface that provides an intelligent disk I/O channel. Many manufacturers offer controllers that implement the SCSI interface, allowing users to select the controller that suits their needs and to allow interchangeability of peripheral devices.
