ZBX-324

SKU: ZBX-324

ZBX-324 ANALOG INPUT/OUTPUT MODULE

The ZBX-324 is a combination analog input and analog output module. Two 8-bit analog to digital converters and two 8-bit digital to analog converters are contained on the ZBX-324. In addition, the module contains an on-board precision voltage reference.

Analog to Digital Converter
The ADC section consists of two Analog Devices AD7574 CMOS ADC circuits. These devices use the successive-approximation technique to provide a fast conversion time of 15 uS. Additional features include 8-bit resolution, internal clock, on-chip comparator and low (30mW) power dissipation. An Analog Devices AD581 provides a precision voltage reference of 10,000 V +5mV.

The conversion process is started by a read of the data port. During the conversion process, the ZBX-324 generates an MWAIT/until the conversion process is complete. When the conversion data is valid, the MWAIT/ signal is de-asserted to allow the CPU to proceed.

Digital to Analog Converter
he DAC section consists of two Analog Devices AD558 Dacport
DAC circuits. The AD 558 Dacport is a complete voltage output 8-bit digital to analog converter, including output amplifier, full microprocessor interface and precision voltage reference on a single monolithic chip. The voltage-switching structure of the AD558 provides a jumper selectable output range of 2.56V or 10.0V. Circuitry is internally compensated for minimum settling time on both ranges; typically settling to + 1/2 LSB for a full-scale 2.55 volt step in 800 ns.
