ZBX-349 CENTRONICS PRINTER MODULE
The ZBX-349 provides an interface to a Centronics compatible parallel printer through the SBX expansion bus. A 50 pin edge connector allows direct connection to the printer through the supplied eight foot cable. The ZBX-349 allows a baseboard to have a private printer port and output data without having to gain control of the Multibus.
Functional Description
The ZBX-349 consists of two major sections, a status read section and data write section.
Status Read Section
The status read section consists of a 74LS367 port connected to the printer status lines. The printer status lines BUSY/, ACK/, SEL/, and FAULT/ are connected through the port to the SBX lines MDO - MD3. An I/O read of the SBX port will cause the printer status to be placed on the bus for read by the CPU.
Data Write Section
The data write section consists of an 8282 octal latch and associated strobe generation logic. Once the CPU reads a status ready from the printer, the output byte is written to the SBX port. The data is latched in by the octal latch and placed on the printer output pins. At the same time the proper printer data strobe is generated and the printer accepts the data byte.
