ZBX-361 DUAL SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS MODULE
The ZBX-361 module provides two RS-232C serial communication ports. The USARTs accept data from the CPU in parallel and convert it to a continuous serial data stream for transmission. Communication Interface
The ZBX-361 contains two 8251A USARTs to control the serial communications interfaces. The USARTs accept data from the CPU in parallel format and convert it into a continuous serial data stream for transmission. It can simultaneously receive serial data streams and convert them into parallel characters for the CPU. The USARTs will signal the CPU when it can accept new characters for transmission or have a character to send to the CPU. The 8251A contains a number of advanced features including double- buffer data paths with separate I/O registers for control status, data in and data out. The 8251 A is easily programmed using instruction words which specify mode and command instructions. The mode operation (synchronous or asynchronous), data format, control character format, parity, and baud rate are all programmed using instruction words. The 8251A provides full duplex, double buffered transmit and receive capabilities.
Baud Rate Generator
The WD1943 is a combination Programmable Divider and Baud Rate Clock Generator.
