Four sockets are available to support either 2732, 2764, 27128, 27256 or 27512 devices. The ZX-186/30 features a user selectable 8251A or 8274 serial controller. The 8251A may be RS-232 or RS-422. The 8274 may be 2/RS-232 and 1/RS-422 and will support HDLC/SDLC protocols. The baud rate is software selectable with a maximum rate of 19.2K baud asynchronous on channel 1 and a maximum rate of 800K baud synchronous on channel 2. Channel 1 is standard RS-232 compatible. Sockets provided for line drivers and terminators enable the user to choose the proper devices for each application. The 80186 CPU supports two independent, high speed, DMA channels.
